What an SMO does

- The same SOPs, training and quality bar across every site in the network, so performance doesn't depend on which site happened to have experienced staff already.
- One point of accountability
- If a site is underperforming, the answer isn't "escalate to the site" — it's us, because the staff running the day-to-day are ours.
Why it matters
Sites without their own research staff can still run trials.
Plenty of good clinical sites don't have in-house coordinators or research nurses — that's not a reason to rule them out. An SMO model lets us bring qualified, trained staff to a capable site rather than limiting a study to sites that already happen to be staffed for research.
